Our Experienced Forest Land Management Team

The management team at Saratoga Land Management Corp. in Ballston Spa, New York, is comprised of many experts in forest land management. All of our members bring their expertise together to ensure you receive the best possible services available from our company.

A 1982 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in forest management, Alec had worked in the forest products industry for more than two years before he became a field forester with Lumac. In 1988, Alec assumed the role of treasurer and began to encourage operational changes to continue being competitive while meeting the growing diversification of the company. Since becoming the president of the company in 1990, he has increased the customer base by more than 80% by investing more than three million dollars into the company.

Bob Rice is a 1978 graduate of the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, with degrees in both forest technology and resource management. He has been with Lumac since the spring of 1979 when he was hired to open a new office in Connecticut. He ran the office until 1987 before moving to the Saratoga region of New York to help the home office expand their service area and became an owner of the company. An SAF™ member for 20 years, Bob has assisted with the NYS Tree Farm™ program and is currently involved with teaching forest ecology to loggers participating in the Logger Training Certification™ program.

Chuck is a 1986 graduate from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, with degrees in both forest and wildlife biology and resource management. He has been with Lumac since the summer of 1985 and has worked with a variety of landowners, including nature lovers, sportsmen, investors, and land developers, and helping them realize their ownership objectives. In 1989, he took on an active role in the ownership and management of the firm, and by 1994, he became a leader in the New York State Tree Farm program.

Chris has been with the Lumac since 1982 as the office manager and company secretary. She performs the payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and handles every other aspect of office work that arises. She is also the phone receptionist and the sales manager for Northern Firewood Distributors, a company born out of the need for distributing a specific forest product.
