ABOUT THE PEOPLE: |

ALEC MACKAY,
President/Treasurer, is a 1982
graduate of the University of
New Hampshire with a
degree in Forest Management.
After graduating, Alec worked in
the forest products industry in
New Hampshire for 2˝ years
before becoming a field forester
with Lumac. In 1988 Alec
assumed the role of Treasurer of
Saratoga Land Management Corp.
As Treasurer Alec encouraged
operational changes to continue
being competitive while meeting
the growing diversification of
the company. Alec became
President of Saratoga Water
Services, Inc., in 1990.
He increased the customer base
by over 80% over the last 10
years by investing almost 3
million dollars into the
company, making SWS the largest
private water utility in the
capital region. At the
same time, Alec became President
of the Luther Forest
Corporation, becoming the fourth
generation forester/steward of
the 4,500 acre Luther Forest.
He has expanded the public use
of the property by integrating
forestry practices with
recreational leases,
snowmobile/equestrian use,
wildlife enhancement, and a
quality deer management program. |

BOB RICE,
Vice President, is a 1978
Graduate of the State University
of New York, College of
Environmental Science and
Forestry. Majors included
both Forest Technology and
Resource Management. He
has been with Lumac since the
spring of 1979, hired to open a
new office in Connecticut.
Bob ran the office until the
fall of 1987 when he handed the
reins to Chuck Gerber, and moved
to the Saratoga region of New
York to help the home office
expand their service area.
At this point, Bob became an
owner of the company. An
SAF member for 20 years, Bob has
assisted with the NYS Tree Farm
program, and is currently
involved with teaching Forest
Ecology to loggers participating
in the Logger Training
Certification program. He
enjoys the variety of forest
landowners he continues to meet,
and the constant challenge of
formulating a forest management
plan to fit their landownership
goals |

CHUCK
GERBER,
Vice President, is a 1985 Graduate of
the State University of
New York, College of Environmental
Science and Forestry. Majors
included both Forest and Wildlife
Biology and Resource Management.
He has been with Lumac Company since the
summer of 1985 when he joined the
company’s Connecticut office. In
Connecticut Chuck worked with a variety
of landowners including nature lovers,
sportsmen, investors and land
developers, helping each of them realize
their ownership objectives. In
1989 Chuck moved his family to the
greater Saratoga Region of New York
State where they presently reside.
In New York he took on an active role in
the ownership and management of the
firm. In 1994 Chuck became a
leader in the New York State Tree Farm
program and served as State Chairman of
that organization in 1995. 1998
saw his responsibilities expand to head
up Forest Solutions, the Corporation’s
newest division. He currently
serves on the Executive Committee and
the Board of Directors of the Empire
State Forest Products Association, and
the New York Sustainable Forestry
Initiative-SM Implementation Committee.
Chuck is also active in local
government, serving as an elected
official in his hometown of Wilton, in
addition to his responsibilities serving
private landowners and Corporate clients
throughout the state. Chuck has
been recognized by the Society of
American Foresters as a Certified
Forester since the programs inception in
June of 1997. |

CHRIS NELSON
is the Secretary of the
Corporation as well as our
Office Manager. She has
been with Lumac Company since
1982. Chris does payroll,
accounts payable, accounts
receivable and handles every
other aspect of office work that
arises. She is also the
phone receptionist and is the
sales manager for Northern
Firewood Distributors, a company
born out of the need for
distributing a specific forest
product. |

PETE
NICHOLAS
is a 1990 Graduate of
the State University of New York,
College of Environmental Science and
Forestry at Syracuse. His majors
included Forest Biology and Resource
Management. He has been employed
with Lumac Company since 1990. He
was hired as a Forester but has
performed all duties of Lumac’s daily
operations. Pete is a 1995
graduate of the Leadership Saratoga
program. He has assisted with the
NYS Tree Farm program, and worked with
local 4-H groups and boy scouts in the
Saratoga area. Pete has been a
“Certified Forester” with the Society of
American Foresters since the program’s
inception in June of 1997. He also
supervises the forest management of the
4,500 acre Luther Forest in Malta and
Stillwater, NY. Because of his
hard work and dedication, in October
2004 Pete was offered and accepted an
ownership interest in the Corporation.
He brings a tireless work ethic and vast
forestry experience to the company. He
is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys
fishing and hunting. |

BRETT JOLY,
Forest Technician, is a 2003 graduate of
the State University of New York,
College of Environmental Science and
Forestry Ranger School with an A.A.S. in
Forest Technology. Following
graduation Brett was employed as a New
York State D.E.C. Assistant Forest
Ranger in the Siamese Ponds wilderness
area. As the newest addition to
our team, Brett is responsible for
timber cruising, timber marking,
boundary line maintenance, stand type
identification, preparation of
management plans as well as using GPS
and Arc View/GIS computer mapping
software. |

KEITH
BURNETT,
Forest Technician,
received his Associates Degree in
Applied Science from SUNY-ESF Ranger
School in 2003. Upon completion, Keith
was employed by the New York State
D.E.C. as an assistant Forest Ranger for
the Moose River Plaines Recreation Area
in Indian Lake, NY. For the 2004
season, Keith was transferred to the
Western High Peaks Region in the town of
Long Lake. The newest employee of Lumac
Company, Keith is responsible for timber
cruising, forest type mapping, timber
marking, boundary line establishment,
data engineering and is acquiring the
skills to accurately evaluate possible
timber lot purchasing under the
supervision of his supervisors. |
